Exchange Online email update required

IMPORTANT NOTICE

An update is required for customers using Spindle Document Distribution v8.15 to 10.15 (including where it is used as part of Spindle Document Management or Credit Hound Professional) to send emails via Exchange (Microsoft 365 / Office 365 for email).

Why is this update required?

Microsoft has announced the retirement of Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online.

EWS will be disabled by default on 1 October 2026 and fully retired on 1 April 2027. From this point onwards, applications that rely on EWS will no longer be able to send emails via Exchange Online.

Spindle Document Distribution currently uses EWS for Exchange Online email delivery and therefore must be updated ahead of this deadline to ensure continuity of service.

How is the update applied?
